National Park of Hallingskarvet
Copyright: Thorgeir Røer More than 300 million years ago, long before the last ice age, a massive mountain ridge was shoved up over the plain. Today, Hallingskarvet stands as a comfortable landmark and separates Hardangervidda and Skarvheimen.
With summits up to 1933 masl (Folarskarsnuten), Hallingskarvet is a paradise for climbers and hikers from near and far. You can ascend Hallingskarvet on foot or you can climb it. Hallingskarvet has been a popular tourist goal for a long time.
Lordehytta
The well-known Lord's Mountain Lodge (Lordehytta), built by the British Lord Garvagh in 1880, is located on Folarskaret (1620 masl). The mountain lodge was made exclusively of stone and was thoroughly renovated in 1990. Today it is a tour destination and emergency shelter for people making their way in the mountains. It is the only mountain lodge on Hallingskarvet.
